| Redditvision Song Contest Special Edition | ||||

Redditvision Song Contest Special Edition 1 was the inaugural edition of the special edition of the Redditvision Song Contest. It was hosted in Berlin, Germany as they hosted the first edition of the Redditvision Song Contest.
This edition consisted of two semi-finals and one grand final. Each delegate voted in their own semi-final, the edition had no AQ's due to it being the first special edition. Every country then voted in the grand final.
The live show begun on September 25th, 2017. On September 27th, 2017, the winner of the contest was revealed to be DR Congo with the song "Est-ce que tu m'aimes?", written and performed by Maître Gims.
Theme
The first edition was hosted by the mods. On the 26th of August 2017 the first special edition was announced as well as a theme ballot was posted on the subreddit. Users could submit three ideas each. On the 30th of August 2017, the ballot closed and the moderators selected potential themes for the edition. The theme was then randomly selected using Wheel Decide. 30 suggestions were put on the wheel, the suggestions were:
- Numbers: Either the artist or the song title must have a number in it.
- No More Words: Only songs with no lyrics of any kind may be submitted.
- US - We all pick states!
- All songs must not be in English
- Only Bands (3 or more individuals)
- All songs must have some sort of geographical reference to a city, country, river etc. in, such as say "London Calling" by the Clash or "Moskau" in the most recent edition.
- All Stars - pick a song from the past which you have submitted (you don't have to be the same country though)
- Horrible Song Contest - everybody has to pick a song which is of joke nature, has funny music, cringy lyrics etc., everybody has to vote, which is the worst song out of all for them
- Album Tracks (Songs that didn't get a music video and weren't promoted or released as singles)
- Everyone gets randomly assigned another participant, and you have to choose a theme or genre that that participant has to choose their song based on.
- Song name has 6 letters
- Animation videos only
- Only auditions (As in x factor, idol. the voice etc.)
- Countries that became countries from 1960 onwards (independence, breakup, reunification) etc.
- Countries that haven't participated before/participated only once
- African countries only, the artists must have been born/grown up in an African country
- Random countries
- Returning artists only
- All-Stars Winners Edition: An all-stars edition consisting of only the winners to battle it out for the best song.
- Voters only choose one song
- Team edition: all entrants pair up to form teams that have to do everything together
- Strict country rule: artists must come from the country claimed (in case of band the majority of band). Buckle up for a bloodbath of a country claim!
- Lingua franca: All songs must be in a romance language
- All songs must contain food
- GIRL POWER (Artists must be a female soloist or a band with at least one female member)
- Single word song titles
- Homegrown: The artist/act you submit must from the country you currently live in.
- That sounds familiar: Only song titles that have already been submitted are permissible.
- This is Life or Death: the song must be about life beginning or life ending
- Native languages only
The theme that won was Non-English. Each user had to send a song that contained no English. Songs in 28 different languages were submitted.
Participants
Thirty-seven countries participated in the edition. Czech Republic was unable to vote within the given timeframe during the semi-finals, and Chile was unable to vote within the given timeframe during the grand final.

Winner u/geogaymer did not participate in the second special edition, causing 7th-placed u/Azzbestos to automatically qualify for the SE2's final.
